Too long and too many words.need to get back to the level of RIDERS and POLO. Jilly Coopers descriptive writing of the countryside is still so good. I do hope the new one is better.
Yes, this book is formulaic, but it's a formula I enjoy -- sort of like my mom's recipe for macaroni and cheese.

The book is long, and could do with some heavy editing, but the characters are amusing, and at the end I felt like I'd had a nice catch-up with my old friends from Jilly's previous novels. It's a good read, and we need more of them these days.
I had read Jilly's other book Riders and Players years ago. I love that some characters are back in this book such as Billy Lloyd fox and Rupert Campbell Black. There are alot of characters in this book and at times it can be difficult to know who is who ( I did refer to reference in front). But all in all this is a fun read and i was sorry to have it end. I hope Jilly writes a sequel.

Another great Jilly Cooper book. It introduces new characters while still catching us up on the ones from Riders.
A fun romp with jovial characters and some pretty interesting ones, too. The story jumps around a lot, but that's the style of the author, and you get used to it. Too much sexual description for me, I would personally like more in-depth involvement with the horses, but overall this is a grand book a wonderful read, and a great way to spend some down time.
